Yeah, guestbooks are still a thing and I’m rocking one. Please feel free to sign my guestbook and/or peruse the entries left by others.
Hi Kev, I remember this Guestbook thing. I think it was part of Yahoo Geocities? This is a brilliant feature!
๐ Thanks for all the helpful information. As a mastodon noob, I really appreciate you taking the time to put this together, and make it so easy to read.

Just wanted to say that the new navigation bar looks really clean. Love the look.
I found your newsletter article through Mastodon - good post. I was inspired to comment because I also use a Guestbook in lieu of comments. What I never did, however, was include a field at the bottom of every article explaining that the Guestbook is there for comments, among other things. Unsurprisingly, it has been very seldom-used. Your design concept made me feel very dumb, but it also inspired me to add my own field at the end of every post explaining that people who are interested can comment in the Guestbook.
Now, I hope that I will get some comments that are about my site instead of cheap amoxicillin or dating sites. Thank you much for the idea.

Just read the specs on your new server. I'm really struggling on my setup. But here's the hardware at least.
I have dual xeon x5690s in an hp dl380 gen 6 or 7. Can't remember.
Has 128gb ddr3 ecc ram and 1.5TB of ssds. (8x 256GB in raid 5)
Running Microsoft hyperv server with 5 minecraft servers and 5 servers that will be NextCloud, remotely, mastodon, Joomla, and freindica.
There is also 3 windows 10 vms and 1 Ubuntu desktop vms for experimentation. I have a 4tb hdd on another server that has its own xeon 12 thread cpu and 16gb ram that doubles as a defunked ad server attempt. Need to figure that out at some point. That's the setup. Currently... If you have some free tips, the mastodon server is a terrifying setup process and the NextCloud server keeps getting messed up on the ssl cert. Can't figure it out, open to some tips if you have any.

I switch systems every 3 days. ๐ญ That made me think: why not make two websites. One in WordPress and one in hugo/jekyll/whateveryouwant and give them both the same posts.
WordPress again...?
Hi Kev! Found you on Fosstodon and just wanted to say hi and absolutely love the humor! Keep it up! ๐ The last time I saw a guestbook was probably in the 90s. ๐ณ๐
Hi, love your PiHole with Synology NAS guide and I had it running wonderfully on my 918+ for a week or so. Unfortunately mine hit a resource limitation which appears to be related to Docker's "--shm-size" which Synology's Docker implementation doesn't seem to support the configuration of. Did you run into any issues like this? How long have you configured your pihole query history for, or have you disabled that? Thanks for any insight.
Loving the blog. The NAS Synology Nextcloud idea is particularly interesting. What specs is your NAS running?
